[HOCHTIEF AG - 30.04.2015] Leighton in Alliance to deliver Adelaides Torrens to Torrens project
Leighton Contractors, a CIMIC Group company, with its T2T Alliance partners, has been selected by the South Australian and Australian governments as the preferred consortium to design and construct major works for the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project on the North-South Corridor, Adelaide.
The Torrens Road to River Torrens Project has a total value of $896 million. The T2T Alliance will be awarded a portion of the project. Revenue to Leighton Contractors will be confirmed at contract execution which is expected by the end of May 2015.
As part of the T2T Alliance consortium, Leighton Contractors will undertake the work in Joint Venture with South Australian company York Civil. Under the Alliance the Leighton York JV (LYJV) will be working with design partner Aurecon Australia.
CIMIC Group Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Marcelino Fernández Verdes said: "Across Australia investment in economic infrastructure such as roads and railways is presenting the CIMIC Group with a strong source of growth.
"The Torrens Road to River Torrens Project will improve traffic along one of Adelaides most important transport corridors, generating significant benefits for the community and transport network.
"CIMIC Groups construction business Leighton Contractors, and our partners, bring extensive experience in road and motorway construction to the project."
The project will deliver a 3 kilometre section of non-stop road between Torrens Road in Ridleyton and Ashwin Parade in Torrensville, with a 2 kilometre section of lowered motorway. This will be set approximately 8 metres below the existing surface of South Road and provide three lanes in each direction.
Construction of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project is due to start in mid-2015 and the project is due for completion by the end of 2018. The Australian and South Australian governments are each providing $448 million to deliver the upgrade.
